E Cigarette Reviews

green smoke e cigarettes

I haven’t updated this web site in a few months as I’ve been busy doing my “real world” job and haven’t really had the time to write up any e cigarette reviews as intended when started doing this last year. What I can say is that I have been mercilessly using as many different brands as I could get my hands on since the new year. I feel like having this site I should have an idea about all the e cigarettes that are on the market so that I can give you an idea about which devices are going to give you the most satisfying “smoking” experience. After all when we pick up an electronic cigarette we are looking for a tobacco replacement and the closer we can get to the real thing the more likely we are going to be to make a successful transition from smoker to e-cig user.

With that in mind I thought I would write up my experiences with the various brands which I have tried, hopefully this will allow you to more easily decide which one to spend your cash on, without wasting time on those that are inferior. One thing I can say is that the quality of electric cigarettes on the market has really improved over the last couple of years. Companies really seem to be upping their game as the competition in the market heats up and the technology starts to move forward.

I’ll start off with a brief overview of the individual brands I have tried and over the following weeks I’ll write a more in depth review of each as I get a little more time.

greensmoke electronic cigarettes

Green Smoke Review

The Green smoke e cigarette is the brand I smoke every day so I might be a little biased when it comes to giving my thoughts on their qualities. The simple fact is that I have yet to find another brand that comes up to the standards they set. This is a company that prides itself in being a market leader which shows in the quality of their product, and its why they continue to be the most popular device on the Internet.

Green smoke were the first on the market to use the 2 piece e cig that incorporated the cartomizer rather than the separate atomizer and cartridge system that most people were using at the time. This means you don’t have to worry about atomizers breaking down or having the performance of your e cig degrade over time. With Greensmoke you essentially get an entirely new cigarette every time you change the cartridge, and if you are used to another brand you will notice that they nicotine cartridges last a lot longer than any other.

Just as other companies seemed to be catching up on them they have move the bar even higher and decided to move their entire production to the USA. If you are fed up getting product from China because you fear you don’t know what’s in it then Greensmoke are the company to go for. The factory in New York is now churning out all there nicotine cartridges using the finest, purest ingredients. You really need to try their new menthol carts, they’re awesome! They only down side to this new development so far have been that a few of their flavors are still not as good as others, I wasn’t perticularly keen on the apple or chocolate but I’ve been told that they are working on them to make them as good as the rest. If you aren’t sure what favor to get and aren’t too keen on the thought of menthol then the coffee carts are excellent too, especially first thing in the morning.

Green Smoke come with a 30 day money back guarantee so you can try it out and decide whether its right for you without risking your cash. I know for a fact that they are good at giving the cash back to any unsatisfied customers as one of my friends returned their device and were swiftly refunded the entire purchase cost, no questions asked.

Electronic cigarettes Inc Vapor King

Electronic Cigarettes Inc’s Vapor King Review

We all know that e cigarettes are all about the vapor production. Its what makes us feel like we are smoking on a real cigarette, and its the reason that the e cig is a much more successful tobacco replacement than the standard nicotine replacement therapy. With that in mind Electronic Cigarette Inc introduced their Vapor King model to the market at the end of 2009. I’ve had my hands on one of these and I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the quality considering it a 3 piece e cigarette.

The vapor king is certainly of a higher quality than many on the market and from my use of it I feel that its a device that will last longer than the others available at this price point. They also give you the option of a model with a manual battery switch which gives you more control over the vaping experience.

smoke51 e cigarette

Smoke 51 Review

Smoke 51 are one of the many companies that have followed in the footsteps of Greensmoke to offer a 2 piece e cigarette and its resulted in them producing something that is of a higher quality then they offered in the past. I’ve been a bit hard on Smoke 51 at times because I thought their cigs weren’t up to scratch but we really seem to be putting in the effort as their new models are definitely an improvement.

Advantages of this brand is that they are cheaper than some of the others on the market so it you want to save a little cash they are worth a look. If it was me though I would pay that little bit extra and get the most expensive model you can afford. Having said that smoke 51 do have some pretty decent tasting cartridges and they give reasonable volume of vapor, especially for anyone who is used to smoking one of the lower quality generic brands which are susceptible to losing their performance very quickly. Even if you are a regular tobacco smoker I suggest you give the Menthol a try; the same as I’ve advised previously for those who opt to buy greensmoke e cigarettes.

The cartridges are the same price as the greensmokes, although they don’t last as long in my experience.

The downside to Smoke 51 is that they are getting themselves very bad reputation as far as their customer service is concerned. People are buying e cigarettes from them and finding that they get charged double and being unable to get in contact with the company to sort things out. Others reported that the company were offering a free e cigarette trial last year which turned out to be anything but free when their credit cards were charged for products they didn’t want and couldn’t get a refund.

I’m tried emailing them myself to see if I can get an explanation about the problems people are having with them but for the life of me I can’t get anyone to reply. The E Cigarette Shop advises you to stay away from this company for the time being.

blu cigs e cigarette

Blu Cigs Review

Blu cigs get themselves into a bit of a pickle last year when they ran out of stock and couldn’t seem to get their hands on any more from their manufacturer. I had actually ordered from them at the time and it took forever to get my supply. The whole experience left a little bit of a bitter taste in the mouth, but they seem to have sorted themselves out now so we won’t hold it against them :)

Like most other retailers these products have both their advantages and disadvantages. The first thing you will notice about them is that they have a great price compared to most of the other branded products in the market. This might entice you to buy before giving it too much thought, but you might want to step back before you hand over your credit card details.

First off, the blucig is an old school 3 piece unit which immediately marks them down in my opinion. Its not that this device performs badly right out of the box but this design just makes the smoking experience far less enjoyable. You have to think about the condition of your atomizer all the time, and you are going to be constantly wondering if your unit is performing as well as it should be. You are also not going to get as much vapor production as the best 2 piece e cigarettes, which is the thing that make these products such an effective smoking replacement.

Although they have their downsides to this product in addition to their price. The thing that draws many people to the blu electronic cigarette in the first place is what they call the blu pack. This is a great little device that you use to hold your cig when you are out and about, and it actually charges your batteries on the go.

The main problem with these devices in general is that you need to ensure you have a charged battery with you at all times if you are to use them successfully. With the blu pack you can keep your battery charged with much lass hassle, and you don’t have to worry so much about running low. This is a huge bonus, but you have to decide if the convenience is worth the cost of have a lower quality esmoking experience.

My Blucigs Rating: 7/10

I have to agree, Greensmoke is definitely the best E cigarette on the market. I tried other E cigarettes but they just werent of the same standard. One company, which will go unmentioned, even asked me to return the product I had purchase because there had been some sort of error during the manufacturing which made there charger dangerous to use.

Greensmoke give off the most vapor which gives the most satisfaction. I recommend anyone who is unsure about whether they want to buy to give them a shot. You can always return them with the 30 day warranty if you don’t like them.

  2. Pam Kennedy says:

STAY AWAY FROM THE 51!!! I have tried three ecigarettes and found the epuffer to be the most like an actual cigarette. When trying the 51 yes, it made my chest tight without the sensation of actually smoking – other than leaving a TERRIBLE taste in my mouth. The third brand emitted a strong chemical smell – with some friends saying it was worse than the “real” ones. Be careful when buying e-cigarettes at mall Kiosks, the 51 for example does not stand behind its product. After being unhappy with the experience, they would not take the product back for a refund. At the point of sale – they simply forget to tell you this. Also, the Fifty-Ones sold in the AZ malls switch out the empty mouth covering but leave the atomizer in (used by many people that day). Funny their reason stated for not accepting returns was “health” reasons. I guess it is OK to jeopardize health if it is for a sale. I recommend the e-puffer. It is wonderful. Stay away from companies that don’t care about how they sell.

  3. admin says:

    Hey Pam,

Sorry to hear about your negative experience with the Smoke 51 e cigarette. I’ve heard a couple of people saying they had a less than awesome experience with that company but that was before they upped their game with the new improved 2 piece design.

One thing I would say is that its always a good idea to buy your e cigarette starter kit directly from the companies website rather than from a stall at the mall. The reason I say this is because when you buy in the mall you are getting your product from a third party distributor who doesn’t have a direct tie to the company other than buying the products from them. In this case there is the chance that you are doing business with someone who doesn’t have any interest in the long term success or reputation of the actual brand. They may just be happy to get your money off you initially, and if you start having problems they are going to look the other way, not caring if you have a lasting negative impression of the manufacturer. You can be sure that the companies themselves are going to be a little more careful looking after the interests of their customers to ensure they keep coming back, and don’t bad mouth them to their friends.

Also, if you are looking for the best taste you might want to give greensmoke ( they now make their great tasting carts in the US ) or blu cigarettes ( who now get their e liquid from the well known and popular company Johnson Creek ) a shot.

for me personally i would have to disagree with greensmoke being number 1. i have tried quite a variety of ecigs available today i.e. blu, greensmoke, njoy, teslair, eluma and some others not even worth mentioning. what i have found to be the best and what i currently use is the teslair brand. it is very easy to inhale feels normal where as some of the others were more difficult and thought i was going to strain a lung just trying to get a puff. teslair calls it the easy-drag system or something like that i dont know how it works but it just works. if youre in the market for an ecig id recommend starting with teslair it works great for me and you wont break the bank to purchase one. i think you can get everything you need to get started for under $35. hope this helps!

  5. admin says:

    Thanks for the comment George.

I’ve never heard of the Teslair e cigarette but a quick search on the Internet suggests that no one else has either as no one is saying anything about it. My guess is that you run the website yourself and are trying to drum up business, am I wrong? :)

I think I will stay away from Teslair for the moment and stick with my green smoke electronic cigarette which has been on the market of 2 years and has a proven track record.

  6. George says:

Not quite Mr. Admin but good try.

The root of my intentions for posting my personal experience was simply to accomplish the purpose for which this site was set forth, am I wrong? ; ) That being said I feel a voice should be heard that doesn’t have a Greensmoke erection that’s all. Variety has always been the spice of life.

Since we are freely exchanging assumptions I will share mine. With everything on this site preaching the Greensmoke gospel I assume you are part of the Greensmoke affiliate program which in turn means money in your pocket for every person that makes a purchase via the “Worlds Most Popular E-Cig” link at the top of the page (kudos for that by the way). I believe the word you are thinking right now is touche George touche.

Anyways Ill put the ruler away since you probably wont approve my comment on your site. That’s ok Ill just comment on all of this when I create a real E-Cig review site that welcomes personal opinions on all E-Cig brands without commissions being paid to the creator.

    As they say abroad cheers!

P.S. Classy novel photo at the top of the page I actually thought you were pondering which E-Cig to purchase.

  7. admin says:

Welcome back George, I didn’t expect to see you again. If you aren’t directly involved with Teslair in any way then I apologize for the accusation. I’m sure you can understand the fact that the majority of the people who leave comments on this blog only do so to get advertising and back links to their e cigarette websites. The reason I let your first comment through was you actually put a bit of thought into it compared to the commenter’s who only say things like “brand x electronic cigarette is the best”

I WILL allow your comment on my site George because my aim here is to produce a website where everything is out in the open. I love the e cigarette and want to spread the word about it, and hopefully I can encourage others who are addicted to nicotine to make a move over to this amazing tobacco replacement. If this device can improve the lives of other as it has mine then we are all winners, no matter which brand we all choose (as long as it works as it should).

My concern when people purchase low cost, low quality e cigarette starter kits is that they get the wrong idea about this device and decide its not worth using ever again. They not only don’t get the benefit themselves, but will tell all their smoking friends that the e cig is junk. That was why I was wary of your comment about the Teslair. There’s literally no information out there on the web about this very cheap device which immediately sets alarm bells off in my head. How can a product which seems to have been around for at least 8 months (going by the date of the content on their website) not have anyone talking about it if its better than the most popular devices on the planet? I don’t get it!

Another reason I’m wary of Teslair, as any device I have tried which as low priced as this has always been pretty junky. Its not a big deal to most people if they buy something that is total crap when it only cost them $35 but if it puts them off using e cigarettes for life then that’s an absolute travesty in my book. I could of course be totally wrong, the Teslair might be the best e cig on the market.

How did you come across Teslair in the first place? I’d be surprised if there was more than a few dozen people who have ever tried this device which is one of the reason I was suspect of your comment saying how great they were in comparison to all the others you listed. Maybe you could tell me a little more about why they are the best e cigarette out there, and how they differ from the rest of the products available.

Its true that variety is the spice of life, that’s why I’ve taken a look at many of the popular e cigs in this blog, and I plan on doing many more in depth e cigarettes reviews as time goes by. You never know, I might even get round to looking at the Teslair at some point in the future.

You don’t have to make any assumptions about me being part of the greensmoke affiliate program. If you read the Disclaimer at the top of the page you will see I clearly state that I get a commission when someone buys one of the brands that I talk about here. That applies to all brands mentioned on the site and is something that is available from virtually all manufacturers of quality products. The money I make from this blog goes to pay for the upkeep of the site and my time, and it even puts a little food on my table :) Also, people clicking through to the greensmoke website from this page get an automatic 10% discount on their purchase so it benefits them financially too. I don’t hide from this being the fact, and I’m perfectly happy to take a little cash for promoting products which I absolutely love. As I’m sure you are aware, e cigarettes have the potential to change lives and promoting them makes me a happy man. The reason I say green smoke is the best electronic cigarette is because I believe that to be the case, I’m not trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes.

By the way, I wasn’t thinking “touche George touche” (its not a phrase I would ever use :D ), I was thinking “Why is George giving me kudos for a button on a website” :D

I look forward to seeing your site when you get it up and running, give me a shout with the URL so I can have a look.

  8. George says:

I am glad to see that you commented on the purpose of your website as I thought you might have lost sight of it.

Smokers should be aware of E-Cigarettes they are a great product and have come a long way since the early stages of the concept. Once an individual makes the decision to try an E-Cig they should be able to do research and see what others have experienced. When I research Electronic Cigarettes I want to see a decent amount of feedback on various brands drawing attention to what one can expect if they purchase from that brand. What I seem to have found is people stating one E-cigarette is the best available when they have only really reviewed 4 in total. To me that’s not saying much which is why I chose to post on your site. What I find to be an equal travesty to people saying affordable E-cigs are junk is when people make sensational claims without the appropriate amount of research to back it up. What I said about Teslair was simply that it has been the best for me personally and I also stated why I felt that way. Remember Admin price tag is not always an accurate reflection of quality.

I initially heard of Teslair from a couple youtube reviews one by some kid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQE6m3L_Lwk) and the other by a mother with kids (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3kIfou8Uiw). I also had seen on two different occasions people using E-Cigarettes inside my local bars and when I inquired I noticed the red Teslair logo on the side.

Since you asked I will restate what I like about Teslair. You and I both seem to agree that the 2 piece E-cigarette units are better. Teslair is a two piece unit which has seemed to make functionality and performance significantly improved when compared to other companies 3 piece units. An important quality when it comes to E-Cigs which you have mentioned thoroughly on this site is the amount of vapor produced. If you check out the YouTube reviews or their website you will see that Teslair does not fall short in vapor production by any means. What really sealed the deal for me are two things 1) drag 2) customer service. After trying some of the others that I mentioned above I find that the drag of my Teslair is much easier and smoother which more accurately mimics that of an analog cigarette. This is of course what someone trying to convert is going for correct? The customer service was great because I could tell I was talking to people who weren’t just working for a paycheck. They were very helpful and easily fielded any questions or concerns that I had before the purchase. Some of the other companies made me feel like I was talking to India. I personally don’t know that much about the technology behind E-cigs but when I want my Teslair to work she works.

I’m not saying it’s a bad play to have affiliate programs or pay reputable people to endorse your product. God knows if Teslair had one I would be a part of it. Obviously that is a smart business plan and only leads to an increase in awareness and in turn sales and in turn market domination. Admin, you created something that is generating dollars in your pocket, this is why you got the Kudos for a button on a website. Anyways, with affiliate programs and endorsements come people who are simply trying to turn a quick penny. I did read the disclaimer and my concern admin is as I am sure you are aware, people will say anything about a product if they stand to benefit directly. I mean isn’t every skin care product nowadays dermatologist certified or recommended? If you go to a clothing store where employees work off of commissions don’t you think they will recommend the most expensive brands so they get a larger paycheck at the end of the week? On TV commercials take Sprite for example, famous athletes are saying it’s the best. Is that really true or is it simply a move they make to help further secure themselves financially?

I am glad that you have found Greensmoke to be the best for you, is it not entirely possible that someone else could have a different opinion and have found that Teslair is the best for them? That’s all I am saying Admin.

  9. admin says:

    Hi George,

I had actually found that guy’s video reviews on the E cigarette forum when I was searching for information about the Teslair but I was a little concerned about the legitimacy of the reviews. Most of this was due to the fact that he signed up to the e cigarette forum on the 3rd of April and posted his Teslair review on the same day without ever having participated in the forum beforehand. It wasn’t like he was a long time member who has talked about a lot of different brands and suddenly realized the Teslair was the best. It was more like he turned up at the forum to promote his new company pretending that he was a regular e cig user.

If you look at his profile in the forum you will see that the only thing he has ever talked about is how great the Teslair is. To me that screams of the fact that he has an ulterior motive in getting people to use this product, that he is not just some e cigarette user trying to help the community.

I certainly don’t think there is anything wrong with this guy promoting his own company if that is what is really happening (and it certainly looks like that to me), but I’d rather hear from a few other people about how great the product is before I take this person’s word for it.

I agree with you that price tag is not ALWAYS an accurate reflection of quality. I have however noticed throughout my life that there usually is a correlation between the amount of cash I spend and the quality of product and service I end up with. In some areas of our lives this isn’t a huge deal and it might be worth spending less and putting up with something that doesn’t last as long, or perhaps doesn’t do quite as good a job. I suppose it all depends on how much money you have to spend and how important the proper functioning of the product is to you. Up until this point I have felt that it has been worth the extra expense to opt for an electronic cigarette which has a higher price tag. I’m definitely interested in finding cheaper devices that work just as well though and my feeling is that with time the quality e cigs are going to become cheaper all round. Perhaps that time is upon us.

I will say though that when we pay extra for a branded product we are paying a premium just for the name. In my mind branded products are usually of a better quality but whether they are better “enough” to justify the extra cost has to be decided by the individual consumer.

Another thing I think about when buying a product, and when recommending it to others, is how good the customer service is with the company and how well do they deal with problems. The reality is that companies who charge more for the initial purchase are often have likely to deal better with problems, partly because they have a reputation to uphold, and partly because they are making enough money that refunding someones purchase cost or replacing a product isn’t going to be such a big deal. I know from my own experience and from talking to others that Green Smoke are very good at refunding people who aren’t happy and sending out replacements when things go wrong. Considering they are a company which has expanded very rapidly over the last couple of years I find the way they do business to be pleasing.

I find that very small companies that charge cheap prices often have excellent costumer service when they start off. They often are essentially operating as a one-man-band with the owner doing everything himself with very few costumers to deal with which allows him to give everyone personal attention. As they grow however it often seems that the service aspect of their business is the first to suffer. If they don’t have the cash reserves due to the fact that they have tried hard to undercut all the other companies in the marketplace then they might find that they don’t have the resources to continue offering the same service as before. If Teslair is a company that truly does offer a fantastic product it will be interesting to see how their business develops in the future as they expand.

What you’re saying about affiliate programs attracting people who are looking for a quick buck is absolutely true but that’s just the nature of the society we live in. As you said pretty much everything we buy is being actively sold to us by interested parties. Whether that is through television advertising, billboards, or internet websites that get a commission when we make a purchase. If you ask me you have a better chance of getting a quality product if you listen to someone with a website than if you make your choices based on traditional advertising due to the fact that most people would rather send you to a company that makes something that is going to be of value to you. I know I would personally feel bad if someone who purchased a Green Smoke on my recommendation came back to me and said that the product didn’t work and the couldn’t get a refund. In fact in a situation like that I would go to Green Smoke directly and do everything in my power to get the situation sorted out. Since I have had extensive dealing the company and several of its employees I know that they are trustworthy, and have every faith that they are honest enough to ensure that customers are happy. If I didn’t feel that way about them then I would be promoting them as strongly as I do.

Of course the absolute best way to make a purchasing decision is based on the experience of people you trust, but it can be hard to find someone who has the necessary experience with enough products to make you any wiser about which purchase is going to give you the best value for money.

Although e cigarette review websites might not be the absolute best way to choose the perfect electronic cigarette for your own personal needs they will give those of us with limited time the opportunity to make a much wiser decision than if we had simply chosen something at random.

I’m sure there are several e cigarettes out there that could be the best choice for different people. I suppose the only way to tell which is the best for you is to try as many as possible if you have the financial means to do so. I’ll probably give the Teslair a shot at some point in the future if I hear any more good things about it, but I have a few others that are at the top of my list to check out first.

I take it its just a coincidence that you live in the same town as the Teslair company is situated? :D

    Ric

  10. George says:

Your evidence in regards to one of the Youtube videos is compelling but I find that to be somewhat of a mute point when you think about why it was brought up in the first place. That being said however, I feel like you have a little OCD in relation to conspiracies. I can’t imagine having a conversation with you about political, cultural and historical events. Regardless of whether or not that guy is a part of Teslair, doesn’t change what my experience has been or why I like the product.

My only point in bringing up the price tag issue was to make sure you can admit that cheaper doesn’t always mean poor quality. I think you and I could both name thousands of examples that equally support both sides of that reasoning.

Again Ric keep in mind why we brought up customer service in the first place. It certainly wasn’t to sit her and hypothesize about why Greensmoke and Teslair customer service was a certain way. It was because it was our experiences that further solidified our choices.

The internet has become a traditional form of advertising. I didn’t quite follow you when you said “you have a better chance of getting a quality product if you listen to someone with a website.” I realize I took that a little bit out of context but really?

I am in no way knocking E-Cigarette Review sites after all I have gone through the effort to post on one. I feel like I need to keep bringing these posts back to the core issues. Obviously if you read any review regardless of format you are going to have gained something to help make a wiser decision. Ugh, I feel like you should include at the bottom of all your posts “Common Sense Tips Brought To You By Ric.”

Well Ric it is clear to me now that I have not much more to say. I feel like you have taken the conversation to another level a level which completely strays from where this all originated. This has become exhausting, exhausting like a king defeating 1000 blind enemy soldiers. At the end of the day he has accomplished something but only against handicapped opposition. I like that I chose blind in that illustration as out of the two of us you are the only one who hasn’t tried both E-Cigs in question and that fact remains bright as day. Although with all the Greensmoke propaganda on this site I am not sure I would want you to sample it as you would probably rate it unfairly and that my friend as you would say, is a travesty.

As for your closing remark about my location in relation to Teslair I was simply unaware. I was under the impression the headquarters were in California as any shipment I have received from them originated there. Ric it is about as much of a coincidence as someone driving a Ford in Detroit. Thank you for bringing that to my attention though I actually think it’s pretty cool and further explains why I coincidentally have seen people using them when I am out.

As far as you knowing what city I live in, you know Ric I could save you some time by posting a personal:

I’m 5’10″ athletic body, hazel eyes, I like moonlit walks on the beach and have a cat named Penelope.

Maybe I should just get a restraining order on you and call it a day,

    ; )

    Cheers

I pointed out the fact that the video was probably by the guy that worked for the company to show that there isn’t really anyone out there talking about the product, other than the company themselves. But yeah you are right, its unrelated to the reason you brought it up in the first place, I just wanted to talk about it because I had seen the video the day before and wanted to tell you about his devious ways haha. On top of that I just love to go off on a tanget occassionally when having a the conversation, its so much more fun :) and it allows me to add a lot more content to my site which will hopefully help more people find me when they go a search on Google from some crazy electronic cigarette related term.

Don’t worry I’m not stalking you ha, my stats program simply tells me where all my visitors come from and the Teslair site has their address at the bottom of their home page. I just thought it was funny that you were both sitting in the same location after I had accused you of working for them :D

Anyway, I suppose this conversation has come to an end but it was fun while it lasted. If you ever get your e cigarette review site up and running give me a shout so I can have a look. And if you need a hand setting it up in the first place I’ll be happy to help.
